The village square in Schwarzenberg, Bregenzerwald, is considered the most beautiful and best-preserved in the region. In 1989, the Federal Monuments Authority in Vienna (Bundesdenkmalamt) placed 17 objects in the village center under heritage protection: the Baroque church, the “Tanzhaus”, and 16 other houses are part of the village ensemble. The oldest house on the square is the “Mesnerstüble.”

Nearby is House 471. According to the plans of Jürgen Haller and under the construction management of Hubert Schneider, the historic building underwent a complete renovation in 2023/2024. Schmidinger Möbelbau and the company’s CEO Wolfgang Schmidinger, was primarily responsible for the interior design and artisanal execution.

All furniture and kitchens, as well as the coffered ceiling on the ground floor, were custom-made. The furniture was crafted from reclaimed wood, oak, light ash, and fir. Additionally, warm-rolled stainless steel, natural stone, linoleum, and upholstery fabrics (for the pull-out bed and chaise longue) were used. The tiles in the main kitchen were produced by the company Karak.
