Easy Chair Daisy

By M S,

Daisy is a lightweight wooden armchair with a leather cushion. The fine adjustment of the seat and backrest inclination, as well as the armrests, enables an exceptionally relaxed seating position. A sparing use of materials from local woods and the omission of foam make Daisy particularly sustainable.

The design is by Christian Steiner (Vienna, Austria) and was created for the Handwerk+Form competition. schmidinger möbelbau has a long-standing and successful collaboration with the Austrian designer, evident in collection classics such as the Exsel chair or the Lapiz chair.

Masterpiece hide&seek

By M S,

The craftsman’s master’s degree and the academic bachelor’s degree are equal in Austria. In line with this requirement as well as the theoretical and practical skills, another employee of our company has earned this title. We congratulate Lucas Bernhard from Wangen, Germany. With his masterpiece “hide&seek” – as his multifunctional storage furniture with an integrated small safe is called – Lucas set high performance criteria.

The different openings are operable from four sides, yet not directly visible. The surface division is inspired by Mondrian and based on the principles of the golden cut. The black color on the outer side is achieved by charcoaling with a hot flame. The burnt-in oil seals the surface and enhances the depth effect. this old, traditional method was imparted by master carpenter Wolfgang Lässer.

A-Chair

By Michi,

The A-Chair impresses with its consistency, the transition from chair leg to arm and backrest is fluid. A clear formal language reduces sitting to the essential. The wooden connections are in dialogue with this, they turn a necessity into a unique aesthetic feature and are a prime example of traditional carpentry. It is precisely this tension between function and ornamentation that makes Feichtner’s A-Chair a special formal feature.

The A-Chair was created in cooperation with Bildraum Bodensee and Werkraum Bregenzerwald. It was shown for the first time in April 2016, in the course of the exhibition “Thomas Feichtner / Design Unplugged”. The A-Chair was manufactured by schmidinger möbelbau.

Revego from Blum

By M S,

An innovation from Blum: with Revego, the new sliding door system with fully integrated technology, entire living spaces are opened for use and then hidden again. Revego is characterized by Blum’s expertise in movement and handling: thanks to tip-on motion technology, the fronts open with a light tap, no handle is needed. To close, a short press on the door is enough. The door ejects from the pocket; the complete furniture line is hidden. At Blum, we are known as a manufacturer of high-quality kitchens and were therefore chosen to test this innovation. First customers are thrilled.

Childhood chest Elena & Paul

By E S,

The childhood chest “Elena und Paul” is intended to be a timeless companion throughout one’s life.

A piece of furniture gifted to the child at birth, it accompanies us through childhood and into adulthood, moving with us into our first apartment and later into the house we build ourselves. The childhood chest protects and preserves the items that constantly remind us of our childhood.

This piece of furniture is understood as a palimpsest of memories of time. Designed by Yvonne Schreiber and Michael Lammer, schmidinger möbelbau crafted this equally functional and emotional piece for the handwerk+form 2018 competition.

Projectwork Joinery Technology Chair Kurt

By M S,

The apprenticeship Joinery Technician is offered in Austria with a focus on planning and production. This four-year apprenticeship closes the gap between the three-year carpentry apprenticeship and school- or university-based technician training. schmidinger möbelbau successfully trains apprentices in the field of “Joinery Technology – Production CNC” since many years. “Chair Kurt” by Peter Eberle (schmidinger möbelbau) and Victor Ciola (Tischlerei Andreas Flatz) was created as a CNC projectwork for the completion of their apprenticeship. Despite challenging specifications, Eberle and Ciola succeeded in creating a brilliant and technically advanced design. The chair was made as a variant in American walnut as well as a variant in elm.
