Located in the historic village centre, slightly above the centre of Vaduz, is the oldest dated farmhouse in Liechtenstein. The building reflects the economic development and changing livelihoods of a farming family, from wine and grain cultivation to livestock farming. Today, the semi-detached house contains two holiday apartments and a wine cellar.

On behalf of the foundation “Ferien im Baudenkmal” (Holidays in Historic Buildings) and in collaboration with architect Dipl. Ing. Beat Burgmaier, furniture from the schmidinger collection was produced for the living area of the historic building. Both Sennhaus tables and the pull-out sofa Day & Night are made of ash wood.

The non-profit foundation “Ferien im Baudenkmal” is dedicated to preserving and promoting appreciation of Switzerland’s diverse architectural heritage. Bringing together tourism and conservation, the foundation makes historic buildings accessible as unique holiday accommodation, helping to preserve them as important reminders of regional history.

The renovation of the building Hofstätte Hintergasse focused on carefully bringing together past and present. The characteristic rooms were restored while being adapted for new uses. Historic details such as old wooden walls, traditional stoves and visible traces of construction dating back to 1494 give the interiors their distinctive character. At the same time, carefully integrated modern amenities ensure a comfortable stay.
